The objective of this work was to compare five different methods for sizing loading and hauling fleets: hourly productivity, statistical regression, O’Hara and Suboleski empirical method, Match Factor and simulation using the HaulSim software. An optimal determination of loading and hauling equipment fleets can have a significant impact on the investment costs of mining companies, as these represent a high cost in the total operation. For the development of this work, a case study of an open-pit mine with terrain characteristics similar to the conditions of the Antofagasta region, Chile, was used. Among the results of the study, the HaulSim software simulation stood out as the most optimal for the case.
