Abstract

In agricultural production system, the profit optimization problem necessarily involves vagueness, imprecision and uncertainty in parameters and is a multiple objective decision-making problem in a natural way. As a matter of fact these objectives are conflicting in nature in many situations and thus the desired aspiration levels for all such goals can be rarely achieved. Under such situations, decision-makers have to consider certain priorities to respective goals. The present study is to apply the method of nested priority structure given by Rubin and Narasimhan [15] and Mohanty and Vijayaraghavan [10] method to convert a fuzzy multi-objective goal programming to its equivalent goal programming problem with appropriate priority structure and exact aspiration level. Thus, the results have been obtained by implementing Rubin and Narasimhan nested priority approach and Mohanty and Vijayaraghavan approach and have been compared with results of Biswas and Pal [1] in a case of land use planning in agricultural system.
