Abstract

This paper highlights the features of collection development policy and selection criteria of library materials in the changing paradigm where the electronic media and communication technology are gaining momentum in developing countries. The paper also identifies the changes to integrate the issues of collection development and management of electronic resources in the library. The criteria for selection of electronic resources, vital part of any policy of collection development, are also discussed here. Electronic resources was also be identified and evaluated for selection like traditional materials through the consultation of reviews and other services. A review of conditions in India regarding collection development policy and practices was also discussed in this paper.
