Abstract

This paper presents a bibliometric study of Viral Fever. The records published in the field of Viral Fever in the MEDLINE data which are covered in PubMed are selected for this study. The literature covered from the year 2000 to 2019 was considered. On the whole, it is noticed that from the year 2000 onwards there is a gradual increase in research in the field of Viral Fever except for a few years. It was found that (39.66%) is journal articles, (32.15%) is Research Support, Non-U.S. Gov't and (11.44%) is Review. The literature published as other publication types are (16.72%). It is seen that the United States is the major publisher, followed by the countries i.e. England, Netherlands, Germany, Switzerland, China, Japan, India, France, Brazil, etc., India ranks in the 8th position. A total of 25586 records were observed in this study, 23387 records of them were in English language forming (91.41%) of the total followed by Chinese, French, Spanish, Russian, Japanese, German, etc. It is seen that the Relative Growth Rate (RGR) has decreased from the year 2001 to 2019 but some years it is in an increasing trend compared to the previous year. On the other hand, the Doubling Time (Dt) has shown an increasing trend, but it is also seen that some years it is a decreasing trend compared to the previous year. It is found that the year-wise study of Relative Growth Rate (RGR) and Doubling Time (Dt) for Indian output has shown in fluctuation trends throughout the study period. Indian efforts in Viral Fever research are greater in 12 years out of 20 years of study. The Activity Index is higher than 100, in those 12 years, where it reflects the higher activity of Viral Fever research than the World's average.
