Abstract

Though modern technology has given countless platforms and opportunities to students, scholars, and teachers to access the databases according to their syllabi, research, consultation, and reference purposes from the web but along with this facility, the technology has put forth so many challenges in front of the stakeholders. For genuine and fair research, and considering the demand of the time, these challenges need to be addressed on a priority basis. Among all challenges, plagiarism is on priority for every stakeholder, and to address the same, cardinal principles and approaches are required. Many studies depicted that plagiarism is like a pandemic and kills the original idea of the researchers. In fact, "plagiarism is not original thinking" as it is based on unethical and unfair practices. In academics, it is considered as a crime and academic dishonesty and transgression on academic integrity. This is the biggest challenge in 21st educational communities. It ruins the reputation of the institute and individual one also. Moreover, it won't be an exaggeration to say that plagiarism is against the ethics of research and every fair practice. The present paper will try to elicit the factors which are held responsible, influencing, and contributing to plagiarism. Even a few deterrence tools (which came into existence due to technology) are also suggested by the author to curb the same and provide a fair environment and opportunity to scholars to conduct the plag free research.
