Furniture for Modern Libraries: A Study

E-resources are growing enormously in different forms. Users can get it quite easily. Notwithstanding the emergence of e-resource, most of the users prefer traditional libraries. For users, innovation in each part of a library is necessary. This paper mainly aims to show different types of furniture and selection criteria for a modern library. It shows that the standards provided by the "Bureau of Indian Standards" should be maintained for library furniture and fittings. Furthermore, it presents the existing and innovative furniture for the reading room, reference room, and researchers. Stability; ease of use; delamination, budget, programming, schematic design, performance testing, and users' feedback are considered as the key evaluation and selection criteria. This paper can be helpful for library professionals to acquire library furniture.
