Abstract

Universities and academic institutions invest capital for subscriptions to e-resources and online resources for their users. E-resources and online resources are becoming an essential part of their academic life along with print resources. Subscriptions to electronic resources are being increased day by day as well as their usage. Usage of e-resources also will be increased more if the users have both options to use electronic resources through i) on-campus access and, ii) remote access/off-campus access around the clock. JSTOR Digital Library is one of the leading electronic and online resource databases that meet the educational requirement of the users.

JSTOR provides access to multi-disciplinary full-text (pdf, html, and read online) collections. The subscription to e-resources and online resources (e-book, e-journal, e-periodical, and others) through different consortia is cheaper in comparison with a direct subscription with a publisher and supplier. Some academic institutions prefer to subscribe to these resources directly through the publishers and suppliers and others prefer to subscribe to e-resources through consortia. Users face different challenges and problems to access online and e-resources. They need ‘Library User Orientation’ to overcome this situation. University Library can organize ‘Library User Orientation’ that will help the users to be acquainted with Library's electronic resources. Teachers and researchers can play a vital role in increasing the usage of electronic resources. They can instruct and inspire the students to use e-resources. This will help to increase the usage of electronic resources. It will also help students to prepare themselves to be competent citizens who will transform the country to full realization into Digital Bangladesh. The objective of this study is to show the usage of the JSTOR Digital Library and how to increase its usage.
