Information seeking behaviour and library use pattern of engineering, medical and social science PG students of Shimoga City: A Comparative Study

Abstract

This study is undertaken to determine the information seeking behaviour and use pattern of the students of the different professionals PG courses. The nature of the students and their information requirements are entirely diverge, that because of content of the course and method of learning and application of the learn t content. According to the desire and possibilities of users in making use of the information for the curricular activity, the Library and information centers need to make avail of the services and documents. An especially student belongs to technical courses like Engineering PG, they wish to grab nascent and cutting edge knowledge based sources and services. Similarly, users belongs to health studies, they required information which relevant to research based outcomes and data s. Henceforth if user belongs to nontechnical like Social science and humanities PG courses, automatically their expectations from the library is differ. In this direction, study of the users of the different PG students will enlighten about different library felicities and their usage by the students of different streams and also it pouring ours view towards different natures of the users of the streams in accessing of library felicities. And also we can study the real experience of users in getting satisfaction by the use of library.
