Enhancing scholarly impact: The growing role of research dissemination services in libraries of select institutions in Delhi

Research libraries play an important role in supporting the scholarly community by providing them access to a vast array of information resources along with relevant library services. Amongst the various roles played by these libraries, the service assuming more importance in today's world is the contribution to the dissemination of the research outputs generated by institutions and their researchers. Libraries in research institutions contribute to ensuring wider dissemination of the research outputs; support networking and reaching out to more readers; take up the important role of archiving research output and assist in enhancing the stature of the institution in the form of overall rankings of its research outputs like journals articles, working papers and so on. However, the importance of this segment of library services needs to be discussed, amplified, and brought to the forefront to showcase the importance of libraries in research institutions. The present study gathers libraries of some premium research institutions that are contributing to the dissemination of research output and gets the views of their patrons as to which of these services effectively contribute to the research goals.
