Reading Habits and Preferences of Postgraduate Students of Khalsa College for Women Amritsar

Abstract

Reading is an essential activity during college life. At a young age, the mind is ready to acquire knowledge of different types. The present study has been conducted to know the reading habits of students of Khalsa College for Women, Amritsar. The data was collected from respondents using a random sampling technique through a questionnaire method. The study found that most students enjoy reading, and books are preferred. The majority of the respondents use the English language for reading. The students feel that information communication technology has impacted reading, and they read from both print and screen. The study revealed that the burden of syllabus and exams is the major obstacle to reading habits.
