Factors influencing the motivation of library professionals: A study of the Kalyan Karnataka region

Abstract

This research explores the factors influencing the motivation of library professionals in the Kalyan Karnataka region, emphasizing the crucial role of motivated employees in achieving organizational goals. The study identifies demotivating factors such as job-related issues, resource shortages, and communication gaps. Using a descriptive survey design, data was collected from library professionals in engineering colleges affiliated with Visvesvaraya Technological University. The analysis reveals that pay/Salary, job enrichment, promotion, and education/training are significant motivating factors. The findings underscore the importance of effective motivational strategies in promoting efficiency, commitment, and satisfaction among library personnel, highlighting the role of administrators in shaping conditions for intrinsic motivation. Overall, this research contributes to understanding the multifaceted nature of motivation and its impact on individual and organizational success.
