With the introduction of the Internet, there has been a noticeable shift in how people approach information seeking and the techniques they employ for research and educational purposes. Online resources help researchers access the most recent material in their fields of interest, allowing them to expand their expertise and explore new areas of interest. Lack of knowledge about search strategies leads to the retrieval of unrelated data, time wastage, and ultimately impacts the research. The study is undertaken to determine whether the users are extracting the necessary information through the appropriate search strategies. The Postgraduate students, research scholars, and faculty members of Kurukshetra University and Central University of Haryana were chosen for the present study. A structured questionnaire was employed as a survey method, and data was collected for comparative analysis of search strategies among selected university respondents. The results of this study will be helpful to higher education institutions as they develop strategies and guidelines to improve the standard of their research output.
