A Bibliometric Study of Growth In Research Publications of Current Science From 2014 To 2023

Current Science is a leading interdisciplinary journal in the faculty of science, being published since 1932 by the Current Science Association and the Indian Academy of Sciences. It is presently published online fortnightly. The present study was conducted to determine the latest trends and inclinations of research in the Current Science from the year 2014 to 2023. The main objectives of the study are to identify the research output, the growth rate of publications in terms of contributions, and the impact of publications in the ten years from 2014 to 2023. Keeping in view the objectives of the study, the need for bibliometrics arose for quality publication.

The data for this study were obtained from the Scopus database. The data was analysed by appropriate bibliometric tools and techniques in the paper to draw and replicate the results.

The highest AGR was observed in 2015 (0.28); in 2022, it decreased by -0.25. The highest citations to the published papers received in the most recent year, 2023 (23.40%). The ACPP for the decade was 41.61. Prathap and Gagan, UCSI University, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, contributed the highest number of publications (78).In contrast, the top seven authors who contributed the highest number of publications to the Current Science journal in the last ten years are from India, one each from Malaysia, Australia, and Oman.

The paper reveals the “Current Science” journal's research productivity of ten years, i.e., from 2014-2023. During this period, the global Pandemic has also impacted the publication as per the results. The number of citations was greatest in the year 2023, which indicates the growing influence of recently published research literature. Coping up with all situations, Current Science Journal is playing a pivotal role in providing scientific knowledge and information expeditiously in various streams of science research and development.
