Abstract

The focus of this review article is on gender division in LIS profession in the perspective of ICT environment. It addressed three sets of relationships like profession and technology; profession and gender; and the technology and gender to evaluate women's participation in LIS profession in the current day's perspectives. Two inverse trends like feminine LIS profession and masculine technological competency have been revealed from current literatures. The setting of these two characteristics in a specific time and space depends on the archetype of particular socio-economic-cultural conditions. The cultural orientation and the achievement motivation are the two interdependent elements that have to be measured to evaluate women's participation in LIS in gendered digital divide phenomena.
