Abstract

The objective of the study was to find out the purpose and frequency of reading newspapers of the UG students and the news page and news sections preferred by them. The questionnaire method was adopted. It was found that 43% of the students consult newspaper daily and more than 75% of them read the newspaper for the purpose of new information. Majority of students with 64% preferred print media of the Newspaper and 40% of them thinks that print newspapers will never be replaced by the online newspapers.55% of the students liked front page news and more than 50% of them liked cinema news features and sports news of the newspaper. 34% students found the problem of slow downloading of online newspapers and 19% of them opined that screen reading is tiring for them. It was also found Dainik Bhaskar newspaper was read by 54% of the students.
