The information need of physicians has become complex and problematic due to the tremendous publications and interdisciplinary researches that are being undertaken at higher level. The librarians working in those medical institutions need to pay sincere attention to acquire appropriate and need-based literature in these subjects up to the utmost satisfaction of physicians. In this critical situation, librarians should have a clear understanding of their users’ needs and their professed information seeking behaviour. This paper examines the information seeking behaviour of physicians of an emerging medical college and hospital in Bhubaneswar, Odisha. The paper is designed to reflect the practicality of usage of information resources with findings that are vital for promoting information systems and services for academic excellence of the physicians engaged in teaching and practice.
