Abstract

A public library is a library which is approachable by the public and is generally funded from public sources and may be controlled by civil servants. Public libraries exist in most places in the world and are often considered as an essential part of having an educated and literate population. The main aim of the public library is to remove illiteracy and to disseminate knowledge and culture to the people as a whole. Public libraries are functioning with the help of the people and for the people. Hence it is called people's library. Now a days our society is functioning with knowledgeable people and with the help of public libraries. This paper discusses the information access pattern by the users of District Central Library, Sivagangai.
