This paper analyzes 5883 research publications in the area of medical sciences in Haryana during the last ten years (2005–14), as covered in Scopus International database. The study quantifies publication data in various aspects of performance, such as the publication growth, research impact and quality, national and international collaboration, contribution and impact of organizations and authors, major areas of research emphasis in diseases, preferred channels of research communications and characteristics of higher cited papers. The findings reveal that Haryana medical science publications has increased at an annual average growth rate of 21.67% and registered an average citation impact per paper of 3.69 during 2005–14. Around 20.26% and 10.47%publications of the Haryana medical science were involved in national and international collaboration during 2005–14. Rohtak published the largest number of papers (1471), followed by Karnal (1220 publications), Gurgaon (1113 publications), Hisar (718 publications), Ambala (451 publications), Mullana (399 publications), etc during 2005–14. Cancer was the most widely studied disease in Haryana with 438 publications, followed by heart diseases (419), diabetes (292), tuberculosis (179), diarrheal diseases (144), AIDS/HIV, (107), etc during 2005–14. The top 25 most productive organizations accounted for 71.68% (4217 publications) and 72.70% (15780 citations) share of the Haryana's medical publications and citations during 2005–14. The top 25 and 20 most productive organizations and authors accounted for 71.68% & 17.58% and 72.70% & 14.43% share of the Haryana's medical publications and citations during 2005–14. Only 30 high cited papers of Haryana's medical science output received 50 or more citations and 123 authors and 59 Indian organizations participated in these papers. Among high cited papers, 11 were single organization papers (no collaboration), 10 are nationally collaborative and 14 are international collaborative papers.16 exclusive Haryana organizations participated in these 30 high cited papers, with largest contribution from The Medanta, Gurgaon, Ranbaxy Research Labs, Gurgaon and National Brain Research Centre, Manesar, Gurgaon (4 papers each), National Dairy Research Institute, Karnal (3 papers), etc.
