The present study examines 1383 Indian publications on "Hernia" as covered in Scopus database during 2006–15, experiencing an annual average growth rate of 6.75% and citation impact per pa per of 3.12. The global publications on "Hernia" came from more than 100 countries, of which the top 10 accounted for 67.57% share of the global publication output. 214 organizations and 329 authors participated in Indian research on "Hernia" during 2006–15, of which the top 20 organizations and 20 authors contributed 38.97% and 19.45% publications share and 3.57% and 55.43%citation share respectively of the Indian output and citations. Medicine among subjects, contributed the largest publications share of 93.56%, followed biochemistry, genetics & molecular biology (7.66%), neurosciences (4.92%), pharmacology, toxicology & pharmaceutics (4.63%) and veterinary science (3.330%) during 2006–15. Of the total global publications, 1378 appeared in 233 journals, of which the top 15 journals contributed 38.03% of the journal output. The top 11 highly cited papers registered 40 to 210 citations, and together contributed 917 citations, leading to the average citation per paper of 83.36.
