This paper describes the subject-wise distribution and ranking of HSS journals published in India with the help of SCImago Journal Ranking (SJR). The paper compares the ranking of journals published in India with international level journals using SJR. The paper reveals that in seven subject areas, journals published from India are nowhere comparable at the international level publications. In multidisciplinary area, only journal from India is in 5th position at international level. The paper also bring out the fact that most of the top ranked journals at international level have been published from United States or United Kingdom.
