The innovations and developments in the field of mcroirrigation have kept pace with time. Consequently the adoption of micro-irrigation technologies has steadily grown over the years. These innovations and advancements made the adoption of micro-irrigation starting only from widely spaced orchard crops to close growing row crops and even for water guzzling crops like sugarcane and rice. Some new concepts were also introduced such as abjection and pulse irrigation etc. for precise irrigation for further enhancement of water productivity in agriculture.
