Abstract

Entrepreneur has emerged as the best strategy to empower historically disadvantaged sections of the population. With the rapid development of the society, the need for the rise of entrepreneurship becomes eminent. While the numbers of entrepreneurship ventures are growing rapidly, the particular field is still under-research. Entrepreneurship no doubt has become one of the dynamic forces in the economy of Nagaland; a north eastern state of India but the prospect of business in Nagaland remained grim for several years. The growth of entrepreneurship in Nagaland made its start very late. However the new business ventures started in and around Nagaland especially in Dimapur is very promising. Nagaland has witnessed a surging growth in entrepreneurship over the years especially in locally made brands of food products, fashion, restaurants and hotels etc. one of the main reasons for this development is the change in the mindset of the young population who involve themselves in small time business instead of opting for employment in the government sector or migrating to mainland India. This study therefore aims to contribute to the understanding of the current trends & challenges of entrepreneurship in Nagaland.
