Abstract

Along with growth of e-banking adoption across worldwide, Awash International Bank continued to adopt different E-banking services. Through this progress, the challenges are also increasing. The general objective of the study was analysis of the factors influencing adoptions of e-banking in Awash International Banks a case on shashemene branches. Along to this general objective, the specific objectives like identifying types of E-banking, identifying the factors influencing the adoption of E-Banking, responses of users on new technology, the technology adoption status and E-Banking experiences of AIB were the focus area. To attain the specified objective of the study 446 bank community of AIB in Shashemene town were selected scientifically. To get reliable data from these bank communities both primary and secondary sources of data were used. The purposive sampling method was the tactic of sample that used in this study. The respondents ’responses were collected through administering questionnaire, conducting interview and document analysis. The data from AIB communities in Shashemene town were presented in table and interpreted in percentage table. The analysis was done by SPSS 16.0 versions and it was both qualitative and quantitative. From an analysis of the collected data, the findings revealed that: The different e-banking services in AIB are ATM card services, Points of Sale services, Internet banking and Mobile or SMS banking. The major challenges in adoptions were network infrastructure(internet access), frequent power failure, knowhow, Costs of adoption and up gradation of technology, security concerns are among the major challenges for the adoption of e-banking service in AIB. In technology adoption cycle AIB exist in innovator stage and the response from user is growing, whereas the experience the bank has in providing E-Banking services is at early stage.
