Abstract

The basic objective of research paper is to examine the relationship between the corporate governance and firm performance of cement industries. The research paper consider the three independent variables to study the governance policy such as board size, family controlled firms and CEO duality and earnings per share as dependent variable.

In this research study, regression analysis is used to estimate the relationship between corporate governance and firm performance of cement industries listed on the Bombay Stock Exchange(BSE), India, during 2010–2015.

The research result suggests that CEO duality has impact on firm performance. As per the finding family own cement firms doing better performance as compared to non-family cement industries in the field of profitability and earnings per share. But performance of CEO duality has unconstructively and appreciably related to cement industry. Similarly board size shows constructive relation to cement industry performance in India.

The study provide support to corporate managers to establishing relationship of firm performance and to regulatory authorities for enacting laws and developing institutional support to make corporate governance mechanisms work more effectively in the country.

This research contributes to the literature by revealing the significant links between corporate governance and assessment of firm performance of the cement industries in India.
