River Cauvery receives city sewage, industrial effluents, anthropogenic wastes and is subject to change due to seasons, climate, geochemistry of the land over which it flows and influx of waters from various tributaries. This study reports the quality of the Cauvery river water. Physicochemical parameters and bacteriological indicators of pollution were assessed and water quality index was evaluated.
