Beneath the frozen compressed ice in Antarctica, scientists have discovered more than 100 of lakes, which became prime locations for scientific studies. Different aspects of scientific research in those lakes improve the understanding of the interaction of climate, geology, evolution of Antarctica with global scenario. The geochemical changes in lake water probably reflect climatic changes at the lake sites. So the study of geochemistry of lake water and sediment became very important among the other aspects of Antarctic studies.
