Abstract

Enrichment of organic manures like pressmud compost, vermicompost, farmyard manure with Mesorhizobium ciceri resulted in a value added product, the bioorganic fertilizer. Pressmud compost as a substrate supported maximum growth and survival of M. ciceri. Nodulation, growth and yield of chickpea increased with application of bioorganic fertilizer, and physicochemical and biological properties of soil also commensurated with the increase in the quantity of bioorganic fertilizer application. The investigation opens the possibility of developing a bioorganic fertilizer at village level.
