Abstract

Photosensitizing efficiency of dissolved and immobilized dyes, methyl red, methylene blue, rose bengal and methyl green was examined for bacterial inactivation in water. Immobilization on polymer beads enhanced inactivation of Escherichia coli and Streptococcus faecalis. Maximum inactivation was observed with grafted rose bengal followed by methylene blue, methyl red and methyl green.s
