Bradyrhizobium japonicum: survival and nodulation of soybean as influenced by fungicide treatment

Abstract

Survival of Bradyrhizobium japonicum on seeds of soybean (Glycine max) cv. Pusa-22, treated separately with bavistin and mancozeb, was examined under laboratory conditions. Fungicide treatment decreased the viable rhizobia on the seed. Bavistin was more inhibitory on cell population and nodulation than mancozeb, which was also reflected in nodule number, nodule dry weight, AR activity and biomass production.
