Abstract

Feasibility of using different cereal grains for mass production of Aspergillus awamori was evaluated. Autoclaved pearl millet grains, fortified with CaCO3 and CaSO4 (40 and 60 g−1 kg seeds, respectively) were found most suitable for bulk production of A. awamori. The proposed medium for inoculum production is three times cheaper than the conventional medium, the potato dextrose agar.
