Abstract

Probiotics are the live microbial food and feed supplements which beneficially affect the host by improving its intestinal microbial balance. In this paper, the competitive inhibition of pathogenic microorganisms by probiotic organisms in the gastro intestinal tract and its effects are discussed. The media required to grow probiotics in pure cultures and the viability of these strains is also highlighted.
