IoT (Internet of Things): Prospects and Challenges in India

We are living in the era of the Internet and this modern era of connectivity, IoT (Internet of Things) technology plays a major role in everyday life. IoT permits the users and physical objects to connect any time, anything, and any place using the Internet. In IoT technology the Physical objects can connect and communicate with each other via the internet and sensors. IoT technology is not only going to assist large-scale organizations but there will also be a vast opportunity for small-scale organizations and startups in India. Successful growth and penetration of IoT in India require high speed internet with low cost smartphones, Internet enabled physical objects, and Cloud Services (‘SAAS and IAAS”). Government and corporates require a huge investment on the Internet for connecting the rural areas in India. In most of the countries like US and UK and Dubai, citizens have internet enabled physical objects and smartphones so collecting information using sensors and transferring data and information is much easier and costeffective through the Internet. With the development of IoT, security, Internet connectivity in rural areas, IT literacy, and Trust are the major challenges that need to be addressed. In this research paper, we discuss the opportunities presented by IoT and various challenges with their respective solution using an IoTF model.
