Abstract

This study examined the influence of demographic factors such as age, position, and experience on Organizational Citizenship Behavior (OCB). Data were collected from 514 white collar employees working in 11 public sector companies in India, which included one electronic, heavy electrical, telecom, two power and petroleum respectively and four manufacturing companies. Measures of demographic data and OCB were administered on the sample. One-way analysis variance (ANOVA) and post hoc tests were used to find out if there is any significant difference between age, position, experience, and OCB. Findings of this study showed that the age, position, and work experience do have influence on OCB. Employees above the age of 41 years of age, middle and senior level, and above 25 years of experience perceived more OCB compared to their counterparts.
