Abstract

The process of defining critical competencies for a company, its roles, and its functions is known as competency mapping. Competency mapping, a popular term across all industries, is simpler than it first appears. Any successful endeavour requires a certain level of expertise or skill. To be competitive in a given environment, a corporation must determine what capabilities it requires, according to a number of thought leaders in business strategy in recent years. The study's goal is to investigate the formalisation of competency mapping in Indian organisations. Competency mapping has several advantages, but it has only recently begun to be implemented in Indian enterprises. The study has value for academics, businesses, pharmaceutical companies in India, salespeople, HR professionals, organisations, and researchers. Competency Mapping is a novel idea that has grown in importance among HR professionals in the current environment as a tool for improving hiring and selection, performance management, training and development, succession planning, organisational development analysis, etc.
