Industrial relations is about the employment relationship. The dynamics of that relationship involves issues of control, conflict and its resolution and the strategic choices adopted by the parties in handling the employment relationship. It is a field of study in which the employment relationship is analysed. It is therefore a range of interactions between employers/managers and employees/their organisations. It is actually more than just what happensbetween employers and employees as the field deals with broader issues of employment relationship: i.e. those factors which exist outside of the workplace, but which may have a profound influence on how that relationship works out in the work place.
