Human resource development is the primary and most effective means for transmitting essentially useful knowledge from one generation to another. The concept of human resource development includes all the activities and processes undertaken to promote the intellectual, moral, psychological, social, cultural and economic development of the individual. It helps human beings to acquire the maximum level of potential and assist them to become a vital resource of the society. The paper raises important issues relating to competitiveness, employment, globalisation and human resource development andexamines the connection between human resource development, economic competitiveness and globalisation. The papersuggests strategies for human resource development and economiccompetitiveness under globalisation.
