A study of work place attitude of employees of public and private sector banks of North India

Work attitude is the way of doing things in the work place, not just the way the employees perform their work but also the way they think and feel. Work place attitude influences the various forms of behaviour in an employee which in turn has an impact on the performance of the organization where they work.. The banking sector in India is employing millions of employees from different backgrounds and study of their work place attitude is important input for human resource management. This paper presents the results of the study of work place attitude of employees of public and private sector banks of Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh and Uttarakhand. It is based on questionnaires designed to bring out the perception of the employees on work place attitude. The respondents included employees from different educational backgrounds; age groups; levels in the organization; marital status and both male and female employees.
