Abstract

Management is concerned with proper utilization of resources: men, money, and materials to achieve the organisational goals. Materials are a major cost factor in any enterprise and are important to its development. “Material means production and distribution of economic goods and social relationship of owner and labourers”. Material related to equipment, apparatus and supplies procured, stocked, and utilized by an organisation. Material Management is vital to any organisation whether it be any industrial, public, or private utility undertakings. Since material represent most expensive asset of any organisation, thus mismanagement of these assets control be allowed by any organisation be it a Public Healthcare Institution. The present paper is an effort to look deep into the Material Management of Equipment and Supplies in PGIMER, Chandigarh.
