A study of impact of Demographic and organizational factors on job satisfaction among the employees of LIC Vellore Division, Tamilnadu, India was conducted by taking a sample of 360 employees comprising 120 officers and 240 clerical staff. The study has found out that the employees irrespective of gender experience job satisfaction; the level of satisfaction varies according to age; the education level of employees has a bearing on job satisfaction; other factors like cadre, length of experience and salary. The factors analysis confirmed the fact that the higher level motivational factors are causing more job satisfaction among the officers while the hygiene factors are generating job satisfaction among the clerical cadres. Therefore the HR policy of LIC has to be revamped to enable the clerical cadre to experience job satisfaction on higher level factors. The LIC has to conduct job satisfaction survey periodically to spot out areas of dissatisfaction among the clerical cadre especially and put in appropriate measures to address the higher level of dissatisfaction prevailing among the clerical staff.
