Allergic rhinitis (AR) is a disease with a high global disease burden. There is an inadequate data on the epidemiology of allergic disorders in Saudi Arabia.
The aim of the present study was to assess the prevalence of AR and identify risk factors among University of Hail students, Northern Saudi Arabia.
This is a cross-sectional survey conducted in Hail University, Northern Saudi Arabia, which included 1578 participants, to assess the epidemiology of AR, and its possible risk factors.
The overall prevalence of AR was 51% and the prevalence of AR for males was 55%, hence, the prevalence among females was 42%. Moreover, the prevalence of rhino conjunctivitis in this study was 21%.
AR is prevalent among Hail University students with relatively higher risk in males. More research is required for identifying the most frequent environmental and occupation allergies for better future control.
