The paper reports on an investigation into the various aspects of mechanics of closed die axisymmetric coining of powder preforms, which have been compacted and sintered from atomized powder. An attempt has been made for the determination of the die pressures developed during the coining of powder preform by using an upper bound approach and the effects of various geometric parameters on the average pressure have been discussed. The results so obtained are presented graphically.
