Abstract

Human beings need for reliable earthquake resistant design of structures. Hence the analyses by experiments are laborious, expensive and inaccuracy of results due to improper testing. So we can do the analysis by using software packages and prove that results are same as that of the experimental results. The load was applied as reverse cycling loading in a modeled steel frame loading up to four kilo newton. The corresponding deflection was noted from that the stiffness and shear modulus were assessed as 1.78 KN/mm and 12.32 KN/mm. After assessing the individual performance of the damper unit, the damper model was developed. The assessed values were used to analyze the behavior of this dissipative bracing system. The load carrying capacity of frame with friction damper was 20% more than that frame without friction damper also the study reveals that analytical results were well validated with the experimental results. Hence the behaviors studied analytically can be used for further experimental work.
