Economizer coil tubes are one of the main pressure parts in power boilers and prone for erosion. The tubes supply conditions are not uniform and it depends upon the tube manufacturers. The main supply conditions of economiser carbon steel tubes are (i) Cold finished tubes with sub critical annealing at 720°C [SA210Gr A1(C)] and (ii) Hot finished tubes in normalizing range [SA210Gr A1 (H)]. Cold finished tubes with sub critical annealing at 720°C have higher elongation percentage than the tubes manufactured in hot finished normalizing range conditions. Experimental investigations of effect of fly ash particles velocity, size, impingement angle and feed rate on tube erosion were studied. It was found that the cold finished tubes with sub critical annealing has less erosion rate than the tubes manufactured in hot finished in normalizing range.
