Analysis of an orthotropic cylindrical shell with helically wound fiber reinforcement has been carried out in the present work when the shell is subjected to Internal pressure p, Axial load P and, Pure twisting moment T. Five different composite materials have been chosen for the analysis the deformation due to above mentioned loading conditions have been tabulated and presented graphically. It is observed that Kevlar/Epoxy and Scs-6/Ti (156) composites are significant in their behavior in terms of deformations; Kevlar/Epoxy exhibits maximum values and Scs/Ti minimum values, other composites fall in between Kevlar/Epoxy and Scs-6/Ti (15-6) composites indicating the intermedial values of deformations. The results obtained from this work are useful in the design of orthotropic cylindrical shells and design of robotic actuators where light weight considerations with high strength are of prime importance.
