In the present paper we study the propagation of SH waves in a magnetoelastic self-reinforced layer lying over an initially stressed elastic half-space due to gravity. The present study demonstrates SH waves can propagate in the layer. In the dispersion equation the effects of initial stress, gravity and magnetoelastic parameters are distinctly marked. It is also observed that, the dispersion equation reduces to the Love wave equation in the absence of gravity, self-reinforcement and magnetic field. The dispersion curve for different value of gravitation parameter and magnetoelastic coupling parameter are presented by means of graphs.
