Abstract

The paper studies the influence of constant stresses on Rayleigh waves under gravity effect. Gravity effect is introduced in the boundary conditions. Dispersion equation is derived. The percentage of decrease or increase in velocity is found due to presence of constant stresses. With regard to the combined effect of gravity and constant stresses, the decrease or increase of the phase velocity is found for various orders of constant stresses and gravity constant.
