The study on the “Disaster Management for Sustainable Economic Development in South-East, Nigeria was motivated by the need to proffer possible strategies and solutions for managing disaster occurrences for Sustainable Economic Development in South-East, Nigeria. The study was guided by broad objective of examining the relationship between Disaster Management and Sustainable Economic Development in South-East, Nigeria and five specific objectives from which appropriate research questions and hypotheses were formulated. The study adopted survey research design. The research instrument was questionnaire. Asample size of 572 was determined from the population using Chukwu (2007) formula while simple random sampling technique was used in selection of the agencies. Cronbach alpha was used in testing reliability of the research instrument. The result was 0.87indicating a high degree of item consistency. The hypotheses were tested using non-parametric statistical technique, Pearson Product Moment Correlation. Findings revealed that early warning system had significant effect on social well-being of the people (p=0.001< 0.05, r = 0.966), disaster relief packages had significant positive effect on the health condition of the people (p=0.001< 0.05, r = 0.953), international aid significantly contributed to disaster relief (p=0.001< 0.05, r = 0.967). The researcher recommended among other things that; proper education of the people on early warning system and awareness creation for social well-being of the people should be encouraged, government and relevant disaster management agencies should endeavour to provide relief packages to ensure good health condition of the people immediately after disaster occurrences. Government and relevant agencies for disaster management should always seek international aids for disaster relief.
