A Study of Higher Education Policies and Models to Finance Researcher's Projects in India

As per article 26;1 Universal Declaration of Human Rights, “Everyone has the right to education; Education shall be free, at least in the elementary and fundamental stages. Elementary education shall be compulsory. Technical and professional education shall be made generally available and higher education shall be equally accessible to all on the basis of merit”;

Excellence and quality assurance in higher education is the biggest problem in India for Policy makers. Post-secondary education needs to prepare graduates with new skills which include communication and soft skill, a comprehensive knowledge base and a wide range of competencies to enter a more competitive, complex and interdependent world. Quality is a multi-dimensional concept and several toolsare required for quality assurance and effective management at individual and institutional level.

In India, though several authorities and systems of accountability and accreditation are working which include UGC, AICTE, National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC), National Board of Accreditation (NBA), Director of Higher/Technical Education at State Level etc., still we are facing the problem of quality in higher education. It indicates that there is a need of more research work to enhance the quality of education for sustainability. Therefore, it is necessary to involve all colleges, institutions, state and central government, industry persons for maintaining and enhancing the quality of education.

For innovation and quality education, we need to motivate and promote the researchers to carry out the research; But to finance the researcher's projects is another big problem in our country. This present research paper explains the importance of quality and research in higher education and also suggests some models to finance researcher's projects;
