Transvaginal ultrasound simulation training program had been used in several curriculums for several reasons. This experimental study aimed to assess the effectiveness of the simulation training program for the development of residents ’skills and increasing their competency in performing transvaginal ultrasound (T V U S) specially the male residents.
All the OB/GYN residents involve in this study, pre and post-test were conduct using 3 tools (performance checklist, DOPs, and self-assessment questionnaire) and a satesfactory questionnaire distributed in the end of the program.
The results of exam checklist & DOPS showed significant difference between pre-and post-training in total exam grades for both examiner one and examiner two, and also for seven items of DOPS (p< 0.000). Also the resut of the self-assessment formsshowed a significant s difference between pre & post in all the items related to confident level (p< 0.000), the mean score of Satisfaction from the training was (7.3±1.8)& the mean score for the Important of TVUS training was (9.2±1.3)
This study gave a good evidence of the effectiveness of using simulation in teaching, learning, training and assessment, further studies need to be conduct to provide more clues about further using of simulation in curriculum.
