Illegal Human organ trading has acquired draconian dimensions. The altruistic donations have been outnumbered by black marketing in the human organs. Due to advances in medicine and surgery, organ and tissue transplantation has been transformed over the last 30 years from an experimental procedure performed only in highly developed countries to being a therapeutic intervention carried out in hospitals and clinics around the world. The shortage of available organs has created a thriving global organ market in which kidneys are the most traded commodity. A combination of poverty, a significant level of inequality, and an all pervading corruption makes India a fertile ground for this trade1.
